My friend Stacy really likes party planning and convinced me that I could have the rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding in our backyard. She also generously lent me her 60-inch round tables and wooden chairs which make any party an event.

My daughters (who are my good friends) also like party planning and Brittany was the one who was available to spend hours with me brainstorming, shopping and creating all the decorations for the rehearsal.

My friend Victoria has a wonderful eye for detail and gave me a lot of good ideas and lent me her prized vintage chalkboard for the occasion.

My friend Christina is an AMAZING cook and VERY generously prepared our delicious meal of pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, Italian beans, baked beans and strawberry shortcake that was to die for.

My oldest and only son was married recently. I wasn't expecting it to be different from marrying off daughters, but it was. I was proud of him. Taking a wife is a serious and sober thing.

The wedding was small -- just family and a few friends. Heather and her mom did a wonderful job with all the plans and decorations. I thought everything was lovely and had a great time.
